June Newsletter
Dear Members,
Whether you call them fireflies, lightning bugs or glow bugs, the first time these little critters light up the sky is a sure sign that June has arrived. Hello long days, cookouts and flip-flops! While turtles and snakes can't wait for the temperatures to continue their steady climb, we humans can still enjoy the outdoors without liquefying on the spot - not quite yet.
At the Alliance, June is the month of Fête de la Musique. On Tuesday 21 June - the very first day of summer - we'll lather up on suncreen, fill up our glasses, and welcome two local bands for a live concert of jazz and bluegrass music! We'll provide drinks. Picnic boxes can be ordered on the registration page up until June 16th.
On Saturday 25 June, we'll head back to the NC Museum of Art for a guided tour on the topic Becoming NCMA. Docent Diane Beckman will take us on a fascinating journey through a century of building an art collection on behalf of the people of North Carolina. This is the last guided tour with Diane until the museum reopens in October.
If you haven't yet, remember to submit your entries to the 2022 Haiku contest before June 5th, 5pm. Winners will receive a free AF membership for themselves or the person of their choice, and a gift basket.
