May Newsletter
Dear Members,
You may know that May 1st is Labor Day in most of Europe. What is less known is that this year May 1st is also ...International Laughter Day! What better way to start the month than with a good, healthy chuckle? Whether you laugh at a joke, at yourself, or at nothing in particular, the point is to laugh all your worries away that day. In fact, let's make it a whole month. Laughing may help on World Password Day (May 5). That's the day you are supposed to make your passwords stronger, coming up with nonsense phrases you 'll never remember - but hey, no hacker will ever guess them either. Mother's Day on May 8 is a perfect occasion to practice giggling together as a family. If you need a companion to show you the way, you are in luck: May 8th is also World Donkey Day. When it comes to breaking into an honest belly laugh, these charming creatures will be right there with you.
The Alliance will try to bring a smile or two on your face as well. One of the highlights of the month is a guided tour of the Judaic Collections at the North Carolina Museum of Arts on May 28, 1pm, with docent Diane Beckman. Did you know that NCMA is one of only two general art museums in the country with a permanent gallery devoted to Jewish ceremonial art?
At the Alliance, it is time to reopen the library on Saturday mornings, but we are in dire need of volunteers to do so. If you live close by and can donate a couple of hours of your time on a Saturday, please let us know HERE.
