April Newsletter
April is a time of year where the flowers bloom, the birds chirp, and you have to keep a keen eye out for any suspicious looking rubber chickens or whoopee cushions. So if you're looking for a good laugh or a weather forecast that's about as accurate as a coin flip, April is the month for you.
April is a time of year when flowers are blooming, birds are chirping and you have to keep a keen eye out for any suspicious looking rubber chickens or whoopee cushions. Despite the taxing April 18 doldrums, this month is optimistic and full of celebrations. Beyond traditional holidays, International Fun at Work Day and National Find a Rainbow Day pique our curiosity. But nothing beats National No Housework Day ! Sure, there might be a few people out there who actually enjoy housework, but certainly, they are in the minority–and they probably shouldn’t be trusted. For the rest of us, that day - shouldn't it be a week? - is a perfect chance to let dirty dishes worry about themselves in our comfortably cluttered homes.
Special events this month at the Alliance include a guided tour at the North Carolina Museum of Arts about Women Influencers with our favorite docent Diane Beckman. The Sunday Potluck is back and will take place at Board member's Samuel Hotchkiss' house in Durham this time around. Last but not least, spelling lovers among us will be able to compete in La Grande Dictée, organized jointly with l'Ecole/French School of Raleigh for the first time in Raleigh.
We look forward to seeing you there, or at any of our upcoming events.
