July Newsletter
Dear Members,
Did you know that there are more independence days in July than any other month? In addition to the 4th of July, Canada Day (July 1st,) and the French Bastille Day (July 14,) there are 23 other countries around the world celebrating their respective national / independence days this month! Clearly, if you're going to start a revolution or declare independence, there's no time like July.
Another reason to love July: July 1st is International Joke Day! This is the perfect day to let out all of the guffaw producing jokes you’ve collected over the years, those chickens crossing the road and, if you're French, your terrible Toto jokes. Here is one to help you get started: What's the difference between the Eiffel tower and a tick? There is none; they are both Paris sites.
This month is also synonymous with vacation for most of us and the Alliance is no exception: our office will be closed from 10 through 17 July. This won't impact French classes scheduled that week. The Dîner en Blanc - Dinner in White - which took place on Bastille Day last year - is moving to September this year - more details coming soon. Together with L'Ecole and the French American Chamber of Commerce, we feel that a September date is more convenient for all parties involved, when everyone is back from their summer wanderings.
In the meantime, we hope you'll find some time to join us for one of our July events, and wish you a Happy 4th!
