Classical music lovers are invited to the Goodson Chapel in Durham on November 14, 7 PM, for a Tribute to Gabriel Fauré,
honoring the centenary of his passing. This free piano and violin concert is sponsored by the French Embassy and the Duke Department of
Romance Studies.
While Thanksgiving may dominate the calendar at the end of November, there is another holiday the francophiles will want to celebrate: Beaujolais
Nouveau Day!
This year, we’re once again gathering at the Skema Business School on November 21 for a celebration of Beaujolais
Nouveau. As
everyone knows, the wine is merely a pretense, the true focus is on honoring tradition and bringing everyone together.

Sal's Branch Trail is a 2.5 mile loop located on the northeastern side of Umstead State Park - enter from the Crabtree
entrance. The trail offers a gentle stroll through pines and hardwoods, and starts at the Visitor Center. There is ample parking
space in front of the Visitor Center. Friendly dogs on a leash are welcome!

Ancient Nubia: Excavating Treasures of the Nile, from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, explores the Kingdom of Kush, a major
civilization of the Middle Nile Valley. The tour is led by docent Katherine Shen and highlights its powerful kings, royal
women, and treasures excavated from their tombs and pyramids by the Harvard–MFA Expedition more than 100 years ago.
