Spring is officially in full swing, and it’s the perfect season for fresh ideas, new adventures, and maybe a few lost sunglasses along the way. Whether you’re planning backyard barbecues, hunting for the perfect Mother’s Day card, or just enjoying the longer days, we hope you’ll find plenty of reasons to smile this month at your Alliance Française.
May is especially exciting for us as we proudly launch our very first annex in Wilmington, NC! The AF Wilmington Annex will host its inaugural Meet & Greet on May 1st at 5:30 PM at Far from France bakery - because honestly, what better way to start a French club than with French pastries? Thank you Virginia Bateman and William Price for taking the lead on this project. All levels of French are welcome, so if you live in the Wilmington area, come say bonjour and meet fellow enthusiasts!
Another first: AF Raleigh is diving into the international scene with Le Défi Intralliances, a quiz contest organized by the Fondation des Alliances Françaises in Paris. The top two scorers from the local and national rounds will win prizes and move forward - and if you’re the ultimate trivia champ, you could even earn a spot in the final showdown... in Nice! (Yes, the one on the French Riviera.)
Cook with Florence is also back this month, and Chef Florence is tackling the art of baking bread from scratch. Get ready to impress your friends, your family, and probably even yourself with the smell (and taste) of homemade bread wafting through your kitchen.
And to top it all off, mark your calendars for a very special evening: on May 15, join our partner L'École and the Consul Général of France in Atlanta for L'École Gala at the Governor’s Executive Mansion. Enjoy a sophisticated evening featuring a delicious buffet, premium beverages (including, naturally, champagne), and the company of fellow champions of education and culture.
