Bonjour Juillet

As summer settles in and July brings its familiar blend of sunshine, celebrations, and travel plans, the Alliance Française has plenty of opportunities to keep your French spirit alive (and safely out of the heat whenever possible).

Join us on July 11 for our Dîner en Bleu Blanc Rouge, a festive summer potluck celebrating the friendship between France and the United States. It’s one of the few occasions where showing up dressed like a flag is not only acceptable but encouraged. Throughout the month, discover fascinating stories with our conferences on the Liberty Bell and on 3 revolutionary women who transformed themselves into fashion celebrities long before hashtags and influencers.

Dreaming of France? There is still time to join our Immersion Trip to Lyon (September 26-October 4), where participants will enjoy French language, culture, gastronomy, and daily life in one of France’s most vibrant cities. A few spots are still available, and we can neither confirm nor deny that Lyon's pastries have been known to inspire life-changing decisions.

Our regular gatherings also continue, including Conversation du Mardi, Le Quiz, Café Chansons, and Ciné Club in both Raleigh and Wilmington, offering plenty of chances to practice French, meet fellow Francophiles, and discover that singing in French is often easier than understanding the lyrics. Club de Lecture takes a break and will meet again in August. Walk in French will meet again in September when temperatures have cooled off.

Please note that the Alliance office will be closed from July 13 through 17. Classes will continue as scheduled during this period, proving once again that French verbs take no vacations.
