Bonjour Février

February is around the corner, dragging an Arctic souvenir behind it.  While the weather insists on freezing everything in sight, we’re choosing to lean into the season: bundling up dramatically, lingering indoors on purpose, cancelling plans enthusiastically, and declaring this level of cold is not only seasonal, but chic. Très chic.

This coming month, we’re fully embracing crêpe season (because some traditions are non-negotiable): join us in Wilmington on February 3 and Raleigh on February 15.  Scarves encouraged, flipping skills optional.

We’re also leaning hard into movie season. After a couple of weather-related plot twists, our twice-rescheduled Ciné-Club is still hoping to screen Untouchables (Feb 8, third time’s the charm.)  And for those ready to really settle in, the French Film Festival at Duke - starting tonight - will feature seven films in French with English subtitles, each followed by a thoughtfully curated discussion. Consider it hibernation, but cultured.
 
Art lovers can warm their souls at a "Pre-Art in Bloom" guided tour at the NCMA (Feb 13.) Docent Diane Beckman will will lead us on a tour of a dozen art works in advance of the Art In Bloom event. 

Trivia fans, sharpen your brains (and your Wi-Fi): we’re launching Le Quiz, a brand-new online live game with fun Kahoot quizzes on general culture (Feb 27.) Compete if you like, or just come practice your French, guess wildly, and enjoy the ride.

We’ll finish the month on a high note - literally - with a special evening of chansons françaises with guest singer Kevin Soucie ( Feb 28,) where humming along is not only allowed but encouraged.

A bonus for the wanderers among us: one spot has opened up for our Immersion Trip to Bordeaux (March 28–April 4), and registration remains open for our cultural trip around Corsica (June 17–26).

Cold outside, cozy inside, February, we’re ready for you!
