Taking Measure of America - How French Cartographers Shaped “The New World” with Roger Mummert
A presentation by Roger Mummert of www.theparisproject.net in association with the
Federation of Alliances Françaises USA
Among the first Europeans to reach North America were French explorers and cartographers. The maps created from their explorations
fundamentally impacted how colonizers would lay claim to enormous portions of North America - and how emerging nations would later redefine
those claims.

18-22, 2026, docent Diane Beckman will lead us on a tour of a dozen art works selected by NCMA in advance of the March
event.
Art in Bloom is a five-day floral fundraiser in support of the North Carolina Museum of Art which features the stunning creativity of
floral designers from across the state and beyond. Floral designers interpret works of art in the People’s Collection.

Sal's Branch Trail is a 2.5 mile loop located on the northeastern side of Umstead State Park. The trail offers a gentle
stroll through pines and hardwoods, and starts at the Visitor Center. There is ample parking space in front of the Visitor Center. Friendly
dogs on a leash are welcome!
