Join us for a hike in French!

Sunday, February 23, 2pm:

Umstead Park

8801 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27617

Sandwiched between downtown Raleigh and the airport, Umstead Park features a stand of 300+ year-old hardwood trees and more than 32 miles of hiking.

Sal's Branch Trail is a popular trail with easy access from the Crabtree Creek entrance. The trail makes for a quick 2.8 mile loop with little elevation change throughout its route. Views of Big Lake are a highlight along the southwest section.

Sunday, March 15, 2pm:

Johnston Mill Nature Preserve

2713 Mt. Sinai Rd., Chapel Hill, NC 27514

Johnston Mill Nature Preserve is like a “best-of” of hiking in the western Triangle without the crowds. It’s got the requisite rocky creek, a healthy sampling of mature bottomland forest, maturing Piedmont oak-hickory forest and an impressive stand of stout beech trees, some more than 150 years old, that cling to a bluff on the preserve’s west side. There are meadows, especially welcome on a cold winter’s day when the sun is a welcome friend.

This 2.5 mile hike is hosted by Joe Paul Naughton-Travers.  The hike will start at Joe Paul's house.  Please sign up to receive the address.

Open to everyone and all levels of French.
